A Bristol City Councillor has become to the next joint leader of the Green Party.

Carla Denyer - who's the councillor for Clifton Down in Bristol - ran alongside Adrian Ramsay and finished first out of the other five contenders in the final round.

Adrian is a former councillor from Norwich.

The pair secured over 11,000 votes over two rounds of voting.

Speaking to us recently, Carla confirmed she wouldn't be leaving her role as a local councillor, and would take up both posts.

In their victory speech, they said the country was "in crisis" and promised to call out what they called, the 'lacklustre government' on the environment, at Cop26 in Glasgow next month.

They also said they were also aiming to have a Green councillor on every local authority in the country.

They take over the party from Sian Berry, who'd previously co-led the party with Jonathan Bartley. His resignation earlier this year triggered the election.
