He went into the sea to save a woman and her dog last weekend - and has been missing ever since
This Sunday's fireworks display due to take place at the Burnham-on-Sea jetty's been postponed - in respect of the man who went missing earlier this week.
The town council say their thoughts are with the family and friends of the missing man - who went into the sea to save a woman and her dog.
They have revealed 'a great deal of discussion' took place ahead of today's announcement, with Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge Town Council saying their 'thoughts are with the family and friends of the missing man and all the emergency services involved in this tragic incident'.
In a statement, the local authority added: "The Council understands there will be disappointment that the event has been postponed, but thanks the residents for their understanding.
"The Council will be re-arranging the event in due course and further details will be published once a date is confirmed."
