Travel disruption in Bristol after person dies on tracks

Rail passengers between Bristol and Swindon are facing disruption after the discovery of a body on the tracks.

Some services were completely cancelled earlier today after an 'emergency incident'.

In a statement, British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to the Brinkworth area at 8.40am today (17 July) following reports of a casualty on the tracks."

"Paramedics also attended however sadly a person has been pronounced dead at the scene.

"Officers are currently working to establish the full circumstances behind the person’s death.”

In a post on social media, National Rail confirmed that disruption is expected until 3pm (17/7).
