Death of man in Bristol alleyway 'not suspicious'

Avon and Somerset Police tell us the death of a man, who died after being found critically ill in an alley in Bristol, is not being treated as suspicious.

Emergency services were called out at 5:40am this morning, but he died at the scene.

A report is being prepared for the coroner.

Police are now trying to reach the man's family, who are abroad, to inform them and arrange formal identification.

In a statement sent to us, a spokesperson said: "We were called to support paramedics who were treating a man who had been found critically ill in an alley off Small Street, Bristol, at about 5.40am this morning (Friday 21 June).

"Sadly, he was pronounced deceased at the scene."
