Staff at a school in Bristol say they are "deeply saddened" following the death of a pupil over half term.

Redland Green Year eight student Rufus Pomeroy passed away last Tuesday (28th May) during what has been described as a "tragic accident".

The rest of the school and families were told on Friday (31st May).

Headteacher Ben Houghton said: “I would like to express our heartfelt thoughts and condolences to Rufus’s family and friends during this incredibly difficult time.

"We are devastated by the loss of such a lovely and valued member of our school community.”

A wide range of support is being offered to students and staff since term restarted this morning, provided by the school's own wellbeing team and the Bristol City Council Psychology crisis team.
