Bristol Rovers have been relegated down to League 2.

It follows a 1-0 loss against Portsmouth yesterday (24 April), a game that Joey Barton's side had to win to keep their survival hopes alive.

Barton was brought in back in February to try and steer the club away from the relegation places.

But the former Fleetwood Town boss was unsuccessful with fan opinion on social media seeming to put it down to poor recruitment in the January transfer window.

Rovers have two more games left this season, against Crew and Blackpool, before work begins on getting ready for the new campaign with the aim likely to be bouncing straight back into League One.
