Many homes in Bristol are without water today after a pipe burst in Lawrence Hill overnight (22/12).

Bristol Water say residents in the BS5 area are affected, covering Easton, Redfield and St George as well as Lawrence Hill.

Crews worked throughout the night to try and fix the problem without success, with the firm later tweeting that "complications", meant the repair is taking longer than expected.

"Our crew has been working through the night to fix what has become three bursts in the Lawrence Hill & Easton areas with the repair ongoing," a statement posted on Twitter reads.

"Unfortunately this does mean that some of you will be waking up this morning with little or no water."

Affected residents are now able to collect replacement water from behind the Fire Engine Pub on Church Road, Redfield BS5 9HX, with many expressing their frustration online.

"Merry Xmas - queuing up for water in the rain during a pandemic with a tiny baby at home that desperately needs us to put laundry on," one writes.

Another has called the situation an "epic fail".

A seond tanker is also available for residents to collect water at Croydon Street, BS5 0DT.

Bristol Water have asked anyone coming to collect water to bring their own containers to fill up.
