The nominations for this year's Oscars have been announced, a few of which has close ties with Bristol!

Olivia Colman is up for Best Supporting Actress for her role in The Father, alongside Anthony Hopkins.

Colman is an Oscar winner already, having picked up the Best Actress prize for her work in The Favourite back in 2019.

The star also trained her craft at Bristol's Old Vic Theatre School.

Pam Rudge was one of her teachers there: "Words that come to mind are warmth, generosity, fun, mischievous. I think in her acceptance speeches she doesn't have to pretend to be someone else she's just her. There's an honesty and a real grounded feeling from her and I think that's really good for our young actors to see."

That's not the only Bristol link in this year's Oscar nominations however.

Bristol-based animation studio Aardman Animation's movie, 'A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon' is also up for the Best Animated Feature award.

The winners will be announced on the 25th of April.
