Showtime for first 'Bristol Birdman' event
It's the city's first ever Birdman event and is being delivered by Grassroot Communities staff, volunteers and young people
The Bristol Birdman is well and truly underway - all with the mission of supporting young people and communities to fly.
It's the city's first ever Birdman event and is being delivered by Grassroot Communities staff, volunteers and young people.
As well as a fun community event, we're told that all of the proceeds will go straight towards the youth and community work they deliver across Bristol.
Sharing details about the event earlier this week, Grassroot Communities said: "Another day closer to Bristol Birdman lift off - and who knew, the word is out!
"Last Thursday we met with Grant from All Aboard to further discuss the water safety.
"Then showed chief drummer - Arthur from the Batala Reggae Samba Band Bristol around the Birdman space ready for their energetic performance.
"Then we met up with a couple of ex GAP young leaders and Bristol Birdman stewards and done a letter drop around the residents who live near where the Bristol Birdman will take place.
"We dropped off around 200 letters and had many interesting discussions with local residents. And guess what? Most of them had already heard about the eagerly awaited Birdman extravaganza!
"It was great catching up with young legends Brandon and Evan. Brandon is going to college to be a barber and is still involved with GC youth work delivery following yearlong GAP and his internship with us. And Evan has just finished the first year of his ‘CGI and Post Production’ degree with Boomsatsuma following on from Mini GAP.
"Evan said that the Mini GAP programme helped him get to where he wanted to go.
"See you all very soon on Feathers Day on the 15th of June!
