16 fire crews tackle large blaze at recycling centre in Avonmouth

Fire crews in Bristol have spent the night fighting a large fire at a recycling centre in Avonmouth.

Emergency services were called to Poplar Way East at around 7pm on Friday evening (4th April).

Initially, there were 16 fire engines in attendance to tackle the blaze.

They urging nearby residents to keep their windows and doors shut.

The most recent update from Avon Fire & Resuce service, which was posted on X at 20:38, says: "The incident has been largely scaled back with four fire engines in attendance.

"Crews will continue to monitor the area for any possible hotspots and will reinspect throughout the night."
