Work is about to begin on a major transformation at Bristol Airport, as part of its £400 million investment plan.

The departure lounge will see a £60 million revamp aimed at improving passenger facilities over the next three years.

Space in the departure lounge will be increased, alongside the addition of nearly twice as many shops and restaurants, with 17 new units planned.

The airport’s assisted travel lounge will relocate and become twice its current size. Once completed, it will feature accessible toilets and a Changing Places facility, designed to meet the needs of adult wheelchair users and carers. This includes equipment such as a hoist, height-adjustable changing bench, and grab rails.

Work will begin on 1st December, with changes expected to cause some disruption to passengers using the lounge.

Kate Gwyther, Head of Retail at Bristol Airport, said:

“We’re excited about what’s coming. The new departure lounge will be bright and spacious where customers can relax, explore a variety of new shops, and enjoy a wider range of dining options to suit every schedule, taste and budget.

"It’s all designed to make the holiday feel like it starts the moment passengers arrive.”
