A 16-year-old boy has died after yet another stabbing in Bristol.

Avon and Somerset Police were called to Stapleton Road on Wednesday evening (14 February) to reports a boy had been injured on the A420 West Street.

Despite the best efforts of emergency services, he was declared dead at the scene.

In response, Avon and Somerset Police have declared a critical incident and launched a murder investigation.

Bristol Commander, Supt Mark Runacres, said: “Tragically, we have lost another young life from our city in utterly horrific circumstances.

“Our thoughts are with the victim’s family at what will be an unimaginably difficult time and officers will continue to support them.

“We are committed to bringing those responsible to justice and we will be working tirelessly to that end."

The victim was reportedly attacked by two people wearing masks in Rawnsley Park, who then left the scene on bikes.

After being attacked the victim has run to Stapleton Road where he was helped by a motorist, before collapsing in the street.

This latest tragedy comes less than three weeks after 16-year-old Max Dixon and 15-year-old Mason Rist died in Knowle West.

Since that incident five people have been charged with their murders.

Meanwhile, exactly one week ago (8 February) a 16-year-old boy was stabbed at McDonalds near Cabot Circus and on 4 February a boy was stabbed in Saint Werburgh's while playing football in Mina Road Park.

Thankfully the victims in both of those incidents survived, but other fatal stabbings have occurred within the past year in both Bristol and Bath.

Eddie King Muthemba Kinuthia was killed in St Pauls on 21 July last year aged 19, with a £20,000 reward now being offered for information that helps catch those responsible.

Ben Moncrieff, who was 18, died after being stabbed in the centre of Bath on 6 May, with a 15-year-old from London now behind bars for murder and 16-year-old Mikey Roynon from Kingswood was killed at a Bath house party on 10 June.

Three other boys are currently on trial at Bristol Crown Court charged with his murder, which they deny.

Speaking about this latest stabbing in St Philips, Spt Runacres said: “While we are keeping an open mind, there is no clear evidence to suggest this is linked to other recent incidents in the city.”

The A420 was closed between West Street and the Lawrence Hill roundabout to allow crime scene investigators to examine the scene but has since reopened overnight.

A cordon remains in place in Rawnsley Park.

Officers will be carrying out increased patrols in the area, while the police have already announced extra patrols targeting knife crime across the city.
