Bristol knife crime campaigner launches 50th bleed kit
Leanne Reynolds has installed 50 cabinet across Bristol and Somerset in just 3 years
Knife crime campaigner, Leanne Reynolds, has launched a new medical station and bleed kit in Portland Square.
It's the 50th cabinet Leanne has installed in Bristol and Somerset since 2022, in partnership with Bin the Blade and the Daniel Baird Foundation.
The lifesaving, specialised first aid kits can be used to manage and stop severe blood loss in the event of a traumatic injury, such as a stab wound.
"They've been used twice in the city to save two lives," said Leanne, "but we don't want the kits to be used, we want to prevent it.
"Its a resource that's available but if we can actually try and stop the violence and prevent - that's the greatest aim."
Leanne has been campaigning to end knife crime since the death of 18-year-old Dantae Davis in 2021 by rolling out bleed kits and visiting local schools.
"We need to educate young people and give them hopes and dreams," she added.
The new cabinet in Portland Square, St Pauls, is now up and functional in the event of an emergency.
