Bridgwater College fire 'was deliberate' confirm investigators

The overnight fire at Bridgwater College is being treated as deliberate and police investigations continue.

It broke out at around 3.30am and 15 fire engines from across the county were drafted in to put out the flames.

Crews were called at around 3.30am to a single-storey part of a building which is 80 by 60 metres and used for motor vehicle-related lessons. It is currently not being used because of the lockdown.

Fire engines sent to the scene included from Bridgwater as as well as Taunton, Burnham-onSea, Nether Stowey, Street, Glastonbury, Wellington, Somerton, Cheddar, Winscombe and Weston-super-Mare.

The College was closed today but its usual lockdown activities are due to resume tomorrow.
