A serious crash crash in Bristol city centre has left five people injured.

All three emergency services are on the scene at St Michael's Hill in Kingsdown, with both that road and Upper Maudlin Street currently closed, which is causing heavy traffic.

The Avon Fire and Rescue Service says crews from Avonmouth, Temple Gate and Kingswood are on the scene with the five people injured all receiving treatment in hospital.

Drivers are being urged to avoid the area.

The University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust, which runs the BRI and Bristol Children's Hospital by the crash, says both are still open but please use alternative routes to get there.

The Great Western Air Ambulance has confirmed "at least one" of their critical care cars is on the scene.

Avon and Somerset Police say they were first called to the scene at around 2:35pm.

This is an ongoing incident with more information likely to follow.

We have also contacted the South Western Ambulance Service for comment.
