Avon and Somerset Police are continuing their search following an attempted robbery on a cycle path near Bristol's Filton Abbey Wood station.

During the incident, the force say a group of teenage boys grabbed the woman's bike and tried to take her bag.

It happened at about 6.15pm on Monday 28 November, when the woman was cycling towards Abbey Wood near the bridge over the railway when the boys approached her.

Two of the boys are reported to have grabber her bike in the incident - despite about six boys in all said to be involved.

The woman shouted and screamed and was able to ride away, and was shaken but unhurt.

Luckily, nothing was stolen.

The woman told the police the boys were aged between about 12 and 16.

Officers would like to identify a group of boys seen in the area at around the time, described as:

  1. White, with brown hair, wearing a black coat with fur round the hood and with a black rucksack and black shoes
  2. Black, wearing a black coat and grey tracksuit bottoms, riding a bike
  3. White, dressed in black and riding a bike
  4. Of mixed ethnic appearance, with black hair, wearing a black coat, grey jogging bottoms
  5. White, dressed in black
  6. White, wearing a dark coat, a grey hood and grey tracksuit bottoms

Avon and Somerset Police say they are aware of a recent increase in incidents on the cycle track - and so are carrying out targeted uniformed patrols in response.
