This New Year’s Eve will mark a significant turning point for Ashton Court Mansion in Bristol ahead of its planned closure for refurbishment in 2026.

The Grade I-listed property, which last hosted a New Year’s event in 2019, has been transformed into a surreal goblin king’s castle inspired by the cult classic film Labyrinth.

“This is our last New Year’s at the Mansion, so we’re going all out,” Jenna Graves, Venue Manager at Arts Mansion said.

The historic venue is set to undergo a significant transformation beginning in May 2026, following years of concern about its deteriorating condition.

Bristol Historic Buildings Trust, which has taken responsibility for the site, plans to complete urgent repairs before converting the space into an events and community hub with co-living facilities.

“Lots of people have got memories of either getting married there or having parties there,” BHBT founder Norman Routledge explained earlier this year.

“It should be a real jewel in the crown for the city, and there it is crumbling away with the roof leaking.”
