Two men are due to appear in court on Wednesday (14th August) for sentencing, after admitting their roles in disorder in Bristol.

Daniel Russell, 47, of Church Road in Redfield, Bristol, and Mark Bowen, 40, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to violent disorder yesterday (9th August).

Russell was arrested after detectives reviewed footage from the violence on 3rd August, which showed him kicking a man.

He was then later seen kicking out at other protesters and being aggressive towards police officers.

Bowen was arrested after he was recorded verbally abusing both police officers and other members of the public.

Deputy Chief Constable Jon Reilly, from Avon and Somerset Police, said: "Our message has been consistent ever since the disgraceful disorder we saw on Saturday: If you were involved in criminality, we will identify you and we will arrest you.

"The behaviour of these two men was completely unacceptable. Their actions caused distress and fear in our communities and that is something we will not stand for."

Images of people involved

Detectives investigating the disorder last Saturday have released images of a number of people they'd like to speak to.

"Hundreds of hours of footage has already been reviewed," added Detective Chief Superintendent Rachel Shields.

She said: "This includes a review of officers’ body-worn video, images and footage submitted to us by the public and footage from CCTV cameras and our drone units.

"We are keen to speak to these people as part of our enquiries and I would encourage you to come forward if you are one of these people."
