The number of COVID-19 cases in Calderdale has continued to grow over the past seven days.

NHS Digital summary data shows that between September 20 and 26, the borough had a case rate of 77.1 per 100,000 of people (162 new cases), 17 per cent up on the previous seven day period.

In the previous seven day period the rate was 47.1 per 100,000.

The September 20-26 figures show a 22 per cent decrease in triages – the number of calls from people who think they may have coronavirus to the various NHS lines – with 479, a triage rate of 228 per 100,000.

Calderdale’s Director of Public Health, Debs Harkins, said on social media that the rate is serious and people should be careful and self-isolate if they test positive for COVID-19 or have symptoms.

“This is serious. Stay at home if you test positive, have symptoms, live with someone who’s tested positive or are told you’re a contact,” she said.

Calderdale was one of a number of areas first put into local restrictions on July 31.

Calder Valley Parliamentary constituency wards had been allowed out of these restrictions on September 2 but returned to them with Halifax constituency wards on September 22.

The Government’s figures show the number of cases in each area in Calderdale between September 18 to 24 were as follows.
