Heavy rain from Storm Christoph has caused flooding in areas across the county.

Flooding has hit West Yorkshire as Storm Christoph brings persistent rain across the county, we're bringing you live updates.

The Met Office has issued an amber warning for heavy and persistant downpours across Yorkshire, the North West and Midlands until early on Thursday.

Well it looks like the worst is over for most of West Yorkshire - for now.

Many of the alerts issued by the Environment Agency have been stood down, but not all, with some remaining for the River Aire, River Calder and River Wharfe.

And we continue to have several Warnings in place (that's the second level of advice indicating the flooding is still possible, if not already happening), those are for:

RIVER AIRE

  • Allerton Ings
  • Cottingley in Bingley
  • Newton and Fairburn
  • Shipley
  • RIVER CALDER
  • Horbury

On the roads we have several closures still because of the flooding:

  • Alerton Bywater - Barnsdale Road
  • Knottingley - Strangelands Lane
  • Mirfield - Calder View

And on the trains Northern Rail tell us there are no services operating between Leeds and York for the rest of Thursday (21st Jan).

UPDATE: The flood warning for River Calder at Brearley and Luddenden Foot is no longer in force.

Calderdale Council has confirmed river levels there have fallen below levels of concern.

Good morning!

Many flood alerts across West Yorkshire have been upgraded to flood warnings overnight.

There are now 13 warnings in our region, affecting areas including Castleford, Horbury, Wetherby, Skipton, Stanley, Walsden and Luddenden Foot.

We'll be keeping you updated on here through the day!

We now have five Flood Warnings for West Yorkshire:

  • Allerton Ings: River Aire
  • Brearley & Luddendenfoot: River Calder
  • Collingham Beck
  • Horbury: River Calder
  • Walsden Water

3pm

Most of West Yorkshire's major rivers now have Flood Alerts in place, with various others for streams, becks and other tributaries.

A Flood Alert is the lowest level of advice from the Environment Agency - indicating that flooding is possible.

So far there are four of the second tier Flood Warnings in place, that means that flooding's expected and immediate action should be taken, those areas are:

  • Allerton Ings: River Aire
  • Collingham Beck
  • Horbury: River Calder
  • Walsden Water

A flood warning's been in place at Allerton Ings all morning - nearby Barnsdale Road has now been closed due to flooding.

BREAKING: A flood warning is now in place on the River Aire in Allerton Ings.

It's expected Barnsdale Road will flood.
