FIFTH day of school and road closures as tyre fire continues to burn in Bradford

Firefighters are still on the scene of a blaze in Bradford this morning.

Firefighters are still on the scene of a blaze in Bradford this morning - that's been burning since early Monday morning.

Around 8000 rubber tyres went up in flames at a former go-kart track in the city - and it's still producing a lot of smoke.

Eight fire engines and one aerial ladder appliance were still trying to contain the blaze last night

The following roads remain closed:

  • Parma St junction with Upper Castle St
  • Mill Lane junction with Nelson St
  • Mill Lane junction with Fitzwilliam St
  • All other roads are now open.
  • HGVs can’t enter Pitcliffe Way Industrial Estate but cars & vans can

Bradford Council have also confirmed the following schools will remain shut today:

  • Bradford Academy
  • Bradford District PRU
  • Bronte Girls' Academy
  • Dixons Free Sixth Form
  • Feversham Academy
  • Oastlers School
  • Rainbow Primary School
  • Bowling Park Primary School
  • St Joseph's Catholic Primary School
  • All Saints CofE Primary School
  • St Mary's and St Peter's Catholic Primary School
  • Horton Grange Primary School
  • Farnham Primary School
  • Horton Grange Primary School
  • Copthorne Primary School
