Dramatic footage has emerged of the moment a former police officer turned photographer drove his car through the window of his ex-partner's funeral director's business in the Scottish Borders.

William McBurnie left Zoe Turnbull needing a hearing aid after she was injured by flying debris during the incident, on December 7th, 2022.

The 46-year-old was inside the reception area of the property in the centre of Jedburgh with her 71-year-old mum when the 57-year-old drove his vehicle through the shop front - only narrowly missing them.

McBurnie, who ran a freelance photography business in Jedburgh, today (Monday) pled guilty to a charge of attempted murder when he appeared from custody at the High Court in Livingston.

Sentence has been deferred until October the 10th for background reports, and he has been remanded in custody meantime.

The case called at the High Court in Livingston.

Zoe is now being helped by Digby Brown Solicitors in a civil action after suffering physical injuries as a result of the terrifying incident.

As well as having to wear hearing aids after suffering hearing loss, she also suffered injuries to her back and legs after being struck by flying debris.

Zoe, pictured above, said: “I’m glad his true self can now be revealed as a result of this conviction – I’m now determined to stay strong and take back control of my life.

"I never wanted to be in a relationship with him but when I tried to tell him or stand up for myself he would kick off.

“Behind closed doors he was controlling every aspect of my life through his mental and physical abuse yet in public he would act charming to everyone. It made me feel sick."

But she added: "I just want to thank the local community for their support over the last 22 months because knowing you're no longer alone is key to feeling empowered and being able to move forwards."

“I would like to thank the victims for their strength and assistance throughout this investigation.

“Such acts of violence will not be tolerated, and Police Scotland remains committed to pursuing those responsible of such crimes and bringing them to justice.”
