Man charged following report of robbery at shop in Tweedbank

A 36-year-old man has been arrested following a report of a robbery at the Premier store in Tweedbank.

Staff were said to be left "shaken but fine" following the incident, which unfolded shortly before 5pm last night (Thursday), and caused the shop to close early.

Police say the man has been charged in connection with an alleged assault and robbery and is expected to appear at Jedburgh Sheriff Court later today.

A spokesperson said: “Around 4.45pm on Thursday, we received a report of an assault and robbery at a shop in Tweedbank Drive, Tweedbank.

"A 36-year-old man has been arrested and charged. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

"He is expected to appear at Jedburgh Sheriff Court on Friday, August 30th, 2024."
