Girl, aged one, among three rushed to hospital following two-car smash on A68

A 63-year-old man is in a serious but stable condition in hospital following a two-car crash on the A68 north of Soutra.

The driver of the other vehicle - a 27-year-old woman - was also taken to hospital as a precaution, along with a one-year-old girl, who was passenger in the vehicle.

Emergency services raced to the scene after the alarm was raised around 9.45pm last night (Sunday).

A white Honda CRV and a black Fiat 500X collided near Fala, on the boundary between the Scottish Borders and Midlothian.

Both drivers were taken to to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, while the child was taken to the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People in Edinburgh.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Road Policing Sergeant Jill Kirkpatrick, of Police Scotland, said: “This is a busy stretch of road and I’d like to speak to anyone who saw what happened.

"I’m also appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen the vehicles beforehand, or who has relevant dash cam footage, to get in touch.”
