Three people have died following a crash involving two motorbikes in the Scottish Borders.

A Suzuki GSXR and a Kawasaki ZX1400 were travelling on the A6088 road between Chesters and the Carter Bar when tragedy struck, near the Scotland-England border.

Emergency services raced to the scene, along with an air ambulance, after the alarm was raised around 2.30pm on Sunday.

But two men aged 30 and 37, and a 23-year-old woman, could not be saved.

The road was closed for around seven hours while police crash investigators examined the scene and the wreckage was cleared.

Officers are today issuing an appeal for information.
