Nineties band Sleeper are set to bring Britpop back to the Borders.

The group - known for tracks such as Sale of the Century, Inbetweener and Nice Guy Eddie - have announced they'll be playing the MacArts Centre in Galashiels.

Their cover of Atomic featured on the soundtrack of hit movie Trainspotting, after Blondie reportedly refused to allow the original to be used.

Sleeper, fronted by lead singer Louise Wener, had eight Top 40 hits in the UK, and three top ten albums in total.

They split in 1998 but reunited in 2017 for the Star Shaped Festival featuring fellow Britpop stars Space, who performed at the Borders venue last year.

Tickets for the Friday, September 1st performance go on sale at 10am on Monday.

It marks the start of a star-studded weekend of music, which also sees the likes of Billy Ocean and Wet Wet Wet headline EdgeFest at Lilliardsedge Holiday Park, near Jedburgh, on September 2nd and 3rd, while Pendulum and Primal Scream headline Lindisfarne Festival over the border in Northumberland the same weekend.
