Delays and cancellations are continuing on the Borders Railway this afternoon (Friday).

It follows an earlier signalling fault.

The 12.49pm Tweedbank to Edinburgh train is the latest to be cancelled.

Passengers are being advised to check ahead before they travel.

Alternative arrangements had been put in place to allow them to use their tickets on local bus services, but has since been withdrawn.

A spokesperson for ScotRail said: "We're working hard to recover from an earlier fault with the signalling system between Gorebridge and Stow.

"Until trains and crew are back in position, Edinburgh-Tweedbank services may be cancelled, delayed or revised."

Meanwhile, the train operator has confirmed it has "no current plans" to introduce parking charges at Tweedbank or other Borders stations.
