Police say man who vanished after crash no longer being treated as a missing person
Last updated 19th Jan 2025
Police say a 26-year-old man who vanished following a two-car crash on the A7 near Selkirk is no longer being treated as a missing person.
It had been feared Shane Donnelly, from Galashiels - also known as Shane Barr - may have been injured in the smash, which left a woman in hospital.
And an appeal was launched to help find him.
But, after more than four days of searches involving a police helicopter, sniffer dog, drone and mountain rescue, officers say they have now spoken to Shane "and have no concerns regarding his well-being."
Emergency services raced to the scene of the crash, near the Bridgelands Road junction, when the alarm was raised around 7.10pm on Tuesday.
A woman in the other car was taken to Borders General Hospital for treatment; her condition is unknown.

"Officers have now spoken to Shane and have no concerns regarding his wellbeing.
"Enquiries continue however, he is no longer being treated as a missing person.
"Thank you again to everyone who assisted with our appeals."
