Police issue appeal after thieves strike overnight in the Borders

A pick-up truck and two quad bikes have been stolen from a farm in the Scottish Borders overnight.

Police say enquiries are ongoing.

It happened at Greenhead Farm in Selkirk sometime between 9pm last night (Wednesday) and 6am this morning.

It's believed an Ifor Williams trailer was also taken in the raid.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 7.20am on Thursday, 15 August, 2024, officers received a report of the theft of a pickup truck and two quad bikes at a farm in Selkirk.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”

It follows a number of fuel thefts from tractors in East Lothian.

Meanwhile, Hutton Stone Co - based in West Fishwick, by Berwick - is appealing for information following a break-in at its offices around 8.30pm last night.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 8.35am on Thursday, officers received a report of a break-in and theft at a premises off the B6461, near Fishwick, believed to have happened the evening before.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”

A blue Toyota Hilux has also been reported stolen over the border in Northumberland around 2am this morning.

It was last seen heading out of the West Woodburn area onto the A68.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “We received a report that between 2.30am and 2.45am today (Thursday), a vehicle was stolen from an address on the A68 at West Woodburn in Northumberland.

“Enquiries into the report are ongoing.
