A7 closed between Galashiels and Selkirk following ‘crash’
Last updated 15th Jan 2025
The A7 has been closed just north of Selkirk following reports of a crash on the outskirts of town.
It's unclear how many vehicles were involved but a white Ford Fiesta ended up off the road in some bushes.
In video footage shared online, the vehicle's airbags could be seen deployed, while extensive damage was visible on the driver's side.
The road was closed between Oregon Timber Frame's new Borders headquarters in Selkirk and the large layby before the turn-off for Lindean, after the alarm was raised around 7pm this evening (Tuesday); with traffic being diverted along Bridgelands Road.
A recovery vehicle arrived shortly before 9pm, with the road opening shortly after.
It comes just days after a fatal crash further down the A7, which claimed the life of a 75-year-old man and left a 52-year-old woman in hospital with serious injuries.
A black Suzuki Ignis and a red Vauxhall Grandland were involved in a collision just north of Hawick around 4.35pm on Sunday.

Referring to the latest crash, a spokesperson for Borders Buses said: "Due to an accident between Galashiels and Selkirk, our X95 service will be diverting.
"We will still serve Selkirk but limited stop. Please expect delays.
"We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause."
