Woman suffers 'life-changing' injuries following collision in Seahouses

A woman's suffered what police are describing as "serious, life changing injuries" following a collision with a car in Seahouses.

The injured pedestrian was airlifted to hospital following the incident in the village's Main Street around 2pm yesterday (Wednesday).

Officers say the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is helping them with their enquiries.

A spokesperson for the Great North Air Ambulance Service said: "Yesterday our critical care team was activated at 1.58pm to reports of a road traffic collision in Seahouses. They arrived on scene at 2.25pm and worked alongside the North East Ambulance Service to assess and treat a patient before airlifting a patient to hospital."

A Northumbria Police spokesperson added: “Just before 2pm on Wednesday, police received a report of a collision with a pedestrian on Main Street, Seahouses, in Northumberland. 

“Emergency services attended and found a pedestrian who had been struck by a car. 

“A woman has been taken to hospital with serious, life-changing injuries. 

“The driver remained at the scene and is helping police with enquiries.”
