Warning issued by Berwick business targeted by scrap metal thieves
Cables and scrap metal worth up to £7,000 have been stolen following a raid on a business in Berwick.
It's understood the Maden Eco premises on Ramparts Business Park were targeted sometime overnight on Friday.
It's the latest in a series of thefts along the Scotland-England border over the last week.
Hutton Stone Co - based in West Fishwick, by Berwick - was broken into around 8.30pm on Wednesday.
A blue Toyota Hilux has also been reported stolen over the border in Northumberland around 2am the following morning. It was last seen heading out of the West Woodburn area onto the A68.
A pick-up truck and two quad bikes have been stolen from a farm near Selkirk the same night.
A spokesperson for Maden Eco said: "To all our neighbours and the rest of businesses in the town, keep your eyes peeled for an old-shape white Transit; they decided to break in last night and help themselves to several thousand pounds worth of cable from our premises.
"Seem well organised. We think it is same people who called earlier in the day trying to buy scrap in an old shape Transit tipper with alloy deep sides."
