Police are appealing for the public's help to trace a 26-year-old man wanted in connection with the alleged theft of a vehicle in the Berwick area.

Joseph Anderson, who is also wanted in connection with a vehicle theft in the Gateshead area, is understood to have links on both sides of the border.

And Northumbria Police, who have released an image of the man they want to question, say extensive enquiries are ongoing to find him.

A spokesperson for the force said: "Members of the public are also reminded that harbouring a wanted person is an offence and those involved could face prosecution.

"Anyone with information on Anderson’s whereabouts should send Northumbria Police a direct message on social media or use the live chat or report forms on the Force’s website.

"Those unable to make contact in those ways can call 101. Please quote crime reference number: 112743X/24."
