A Peebles teenager has admitted a trio of assaults on men in the town over the last two years.

Liam Moffat pled guilty to the latest incident - which happened on July the 7th this year - shortly before his case was due to go to trial at Selkirk Sheriff Court today (Thursday).

The 19-year-old, while acting with others, repeatedly struck a man on the head to his injury on a public footpath between Cuddyside and March Street.

However, allegations that he kicked the man and robbed him of a rucksack and its contents were deleted from the charge.

Moffat, of Victoria Park Drive, Peebles, had already admitted - while acting with others - attacking a man in the town's Victoria Park, to his severe injury, on July the 4th last year.

He had originally pled not guilty but the charge was amended to show he was not acting alone.

The teenager also repeatedly punched a man on the head in Peebles' High Street on May 6th this year.

Sentence has been deferred until next month for a restriction of liberty order assessment. The case will recall on January 22nd.

The case called at Selkirk Sheriff Court.
