A Peebles shop worker has today (Tuesday) admitted pocketing £3,000 from customers by fraud.

Rachel Allison pretended to process transactions through the till at The Super Store on Bridgegate in the normal way - but nicked the cash instead.

The 37-year-old formed the fraudulent scheme between August 19th last year and January 6th this year.

Allison had originally been accused of pocketing £4,000 during that time, but pled guilty to the amended charge shortly before her case was due to go to trial at Selkirk Sheriff Court.

Sentence has been deferred until November 11th for background reports.
