A 14-year-old boy has been charged in connection with a robbery in Peebles.

It follows an incident in which a 42-year-old man was allegedly assaulted and robbed of a bag of alcohol on Friday night.

The incident is alleged to have taken place on a path leading from the pedestrian bridge on the Cuddyside towards March Street around 10.05pm.

According to a police appeal at the time, the man - who required treatment to a number of injuries at Borders General Hospital - was walking with a 54-year-old woman when they were allegedly approached and threatened.

Police say a report detailing the circumstances will be sent to the Children’s Reporter and enquiries are ongoing.
