Woman rushed to hospital following collision with car in Peebles

A woman has been taken to hospital following a collision with a car in Peebles.

It happened in the Innerleithen Road area of town around 9.30am this morning (Wednesday).

Emergency services rushed to the scene after the alarm was raised.

The area is busy with traffic due to the UCI Cycling World Championships at Glentress.

Some Fringe events - including a free come and try event for children - are being held at The Park Hotel in Peebles, where a police car remains outside this afternoon.

Police tape has also been installed over the side entrance, on Tweedbrae. It's unclear if they're connected.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 9.30am on Wednesday, 9 August, 2023, police were called to the Innerleithen Road area of Peebles, following a report of a crash involving a car and a female pedestrian.

"The woman was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment.”
