A man's admitted robbing a 75-year-old woman of her handbag in Peebles.

Colin Boyle pounced on the pensioner near his home in the town's Cuddyside, around 2.15pm, on April 25th, 2022.

He seized the strap of her bag - causing it to break and her to fall to the ground; before escaping with the handbag and its contents - sparking a police appeal.

The 57-year-old initially denied the offence, following his arrest, but pled guilty to an amended charge last month.

He was due to be sentenced at Selkirk Sheriff Court today (Thursday), but a background report was unavailable.

Boyle was also said to be having some mobility issues after time in hospital.
