Teenager appears in court following early-morning fires in Peebles
A teenager has appeared in court in connection with a series of suspicious fires in Peebles.
The 17-year-old male - who cannot be named for legal reasons - has been charged with three counts of wilful fire-raising, as well as a single charge of culpable and reckless conduct.
It comes after the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were called out to extinguish three fires in less than three hours in the early hours of Monday morning.
The public toilets in Kingsmeadows car park, nearby McFarlane Hall and Peebles Golf Club all suffered damage.

The teenager, who gave an address in South Lanarkshire, made no plea when he appeared in private at Jedburgh Sheriff Court today (Tuesday).
He was committed for further examination and released on bail.
The date of his next court appearance is to be confirmed.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 3.40am on Monday, we received a report of a fire at a toilet block on Kingsmeadows Road in Peebles.
“We also received reports of a fire at McFarlane Hall, High Street, and at Peebles Golf Club.
“The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service attended and the fires were put out. There were no reported injuries.
“A 17-year-old male youth was arrested and charged in connection and due to appear at Jedburgh Sheriff Court on Tuesday, October 7th, 2025.”
