Man, 36, rushed to hospital following 'collision with van' in Peebles

A 36-year-old man has been taken to hospital following reports of a collision with a van in Peebles.

The town's Edinburgh Road was closed in both directions for around an hour following the incident, which happened around 7.10pm last night (Tuesday).

It's understood to have happened close to the road's junction with Dalatho Street.

Borders Buses revealed one of its vehicles was held up in the drama.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 7.10pm on Tuesday, police were called to a report of a male pedestrian having been struck by a van on Edinburgh Road in Peebles.

“Emergency services attended and the 36-year-old man was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment.

“The road fully reopened around 8.10pm.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.”
