Olly Murs lit up the Scottish Borders with a headline set at the region's biggest music festival - just 24 hours after turning on the Blackpool Illuminations.

The Troublemaker singer's appearance at Edge Fest last night (Saturday) was his first in Scotland since pulling out of his gig at Glasgow's Hydro after just five songs in May, due to ill health.

The 41-year-old apologised to fans for cutting that show short.

And then revealed he was worried they could miss out again - with his wife, Amelia, due to give birth to their second child "very, very soon!"

Addressing the crowd midway through his set at Lilliardsedge Holiday Park near Jedburgh, Olly, who went on tour with Take That two days after the couple's first baby was born last year, said: "When I say very, very soon, I literally mean I said to my wife this weekend: 'Please, just cross your legs! I need to come to Scotland, I can't cancel a gig again.'

"I apologise to anyone who came to that show (at the Hydro).

"I'm fit, I'm healthy, and I'm back." And he added: "I want to say to all my fans, from the bottom of my heart, I love you all so much - thank you so much for your support!"

These Bay City Rollers fans travelled from Ayrshire.

More than 4,000 revellers packed into the big top on the opening day of Edge Fest to watch the former X Factor star perform 15 years of hits, including Heart Skips A Beat, Dance With Me Tonight and even some Proclaimers.

His set followed performances from the likes of Newton Faulkner, GBX, Skipinnish, and Sister Sledge, while Bay City Rollers, Vengaboys, Example and Travis top the line-up on Sunday.

The sun shone on the Borders biggest music festival.

The Bay City Rollers delighted fans by performing an encore on board a land train, which was decked out in tartan before being driven through the centre of the site near Jedburgh.

Speaking earlier in the week, organiser Stuart Macdonald said: "I can't believe we're here already!

"This is the third year of Edge Fest. We started it because we really wanted to bring something to the Borders; because people at the moment are travelling to the likes of Edinburgh, Newcastle and all the other cities to see (the big performers). And it's just nice for people here to have something on their doorstep."

Crowds lap up the atmosphere during the Vengaboys' energetic set.
