Last updated 16th Aug 2024
A motorcyclist has been charged with dangerous driving following a week of action by police in the Borders aimed at making our region's roads safer.
The drive follows a collision involving two bikes near the Carter Bar, which claimed three lives, last month.
High visibility road checks and unmarked patrols were carried out in and around the Scottish Borders as part of the summer safety campaign.
Over the course of the week, 180 motorcyclists were stopped and given advice on road and motorcycle safety.
As well as dangerous driving, a number of other offences were also detected.
Two riders were charged with speeding and issued with Fixed Penalty Notices; one was accused of careless driving; and another rider was charged with failing to have an MOT.

Police Inspector Ross Drummond said: “We received positive interaction from the majority of motorcyclists who were enjoying days out safely on our roads."
And he added: “We will continue to focus on our routes for the remainder of the summer months and we encourage all road users to enjoy the roads responsibly so everyone can arrive home safely at the end of their day.”
