Air ambulance called out following motorcycle crash near Scotland-England border

A Borders road has been closed near the Scotland-England border following a serious crash involving two motorbikes.

An air ambulance from Edinburgh has just landed at the scene (3.40pm) on the A6088 road - between Bonchester Bridge and the Carter Bar.

Police are advising motorists to avoid the area.

The alarm was first raised around 2.30pm on Sunday.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "The A6088 is closed at Chesters Brae and Carter Bar (A68) in the Scottish Borders due to a serious road crash involving two motorbikes.

"Emergency services were called to the scene around 2.30pm on Sunday (July 28th).

"Diversions are in place and members of the public are being urged to avoid the area."
