Health and Safety Executive notified following death of man, 78, on farm in Scottish Borders

The Health and Safety Executive has confirmed it’s supporting the police investigation into the death of a man at a farm in the Scottish Borders.

The 78-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene on the B6352 near Morebattle last Thursday.

Police say enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances, but the death is not believed to be suspicious.

A HSE spokesperson said: “We are supporting Police Scotland’s investigation into this incident.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We were called to a report of an accident at a farm on the B6352 near Kelso, around 10.40am on Thursday, September 5th.

"Emergency services attended and the 78-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances however the death is not believed to be suspicious. A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal and the Health and Safety Executive has been notified.”
