A 36-year-old man from the Borders who admitted being concerned in the supply of heroin has been given an 11-month home curfew.

Sean Ferguson, from Heiton, was searched by police after officers swooped on a property in Chiefswood Road, Melrose on February the 24th last year.

Selkirk Sheriff Court this week heard he was found to have £800 in cash on him.

And a search of his vehicle found a number of purple bags containing brown powder.

Ferguson - who was also said to have been found with a grinder, which had traces of herbal matter on it - also pled guilty to being in possession of cannabis.

Sentence had previously been deferred for background reports.

The home curfew means Ferguson must stay at his home address between the hours of 7pm and 7am for the next 11 months.

In addition, he was also ordered to carry out 280 hours of unpaid work, as part of a community payback order.
