Police are appealing for information after attempts were made to break-in to two properties in Melrose, one night after the other.

A home in Ormiston Terrace was targeted sometime overnight on Wednesday last week.

And attempts were also made to gain entry to an external building at Abbey House the night before.

As previously reported, two vehicles were stolen in Hawick and Denholm the same night - July 30th - when work tools were also taken from three other vehicles.

Locals are being urged to remain vigilant.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Anyone with information relating to these incidents or who has seen anything suspicious around these times should call 101 quoting incident 1171 August 1st, 2024."
