Tributes are being paid to a 31-year-old woman who died in Chirnside at the weekend.
Megan Hughes has been described as a "much-loved mother and daughter", who was "beautiful and caring".
In a statement, issued through Police Scotland this afternoon (Tuesday), her family say her loss has "left a massive hole" in their lives, and they are all "absolutely devastated".
It comes after police were called to a report of a "seriously injured woman" at a house in Windram Road around 4.35am on Sunday.
An area around the property - which neighbours a children's playpark - was quickly sealed off.
Earlier today, a man appeared in private at Jedburgh Sheriff Court charged with her murder
Corey Dryden, whose address was given as Berwickshire, made no plea. He was committed for further examination and remanded in custody.
The 31-year-old is due to appear in court again within the next eight days.
Detective Inspector Laura White, from Police Scotland, said: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Megan at this difficult time. We will continue to support them as the investigation continues
