A 67-year-old woman has admitted a charge of careless driving following a crash on the A68 at Leaderfoot.

Anne Vincent was driving from Gordon to Melrose on April 22nd when she pulled out into oncoming traffic and collided with another vehicle, at the junction with the B6360.

Selkirk Sheriff Court today (Tuesday) heard she hit the accelerator instead of the brake.

Vincent, who gave an address in Essex, was originally charged with dangerous driving, but pled guilty to the reduced charge shortly before her case was due to go to trial.

Sheriff Ian Anderson noted she had kept a clean licence for 40 years.

He fined her £590 and added five penalty points to her licence.
