Motorcyclist dies following crash near Berwick, as family pay tribute

Police have confirmed a motorcyclist who suffered serious injuries in a crash near Berwick has died.

Philip Dalgliesh was travelling on the A6105 road between Duns and the Scotland-England border when tragedy struck.

Emergency services raced to the scene after the alarm was raised around 10.20am on Saturday, May the 4th.

And the 59-year-old, from Kelso, was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh where he died six days later.

In a statement, Philip's family say they are "devastated" by the loss of a "loving husband", "treasured dad, brother and uncle to the family".

It adds: "Taken far too soon. Miss you always. Love you forever.”

An 18-year-old woman, who was a passenger on the bike, was also taken to hospital and released following treatment.

Police reveal enquiries remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the crash.

Road Policing Sergeant Dave Waddell said: “My thoughts are with Philip’s family and friends at this extremely difficult time. We’ll continue to keep them updated as our investigation moves forward.

"We know the route is popular with motorcyclists and I’d appeal to anyone who was in that area around the time of the crash, and thinks they may have information which could help us, to come forward.

“Also, anyone with a dashcam who may have captured something, please review your footage and bring anything of significance to our attention.”

It was the same day Berwick held its annual Riding of the Bounds.
