A 35-year-old man who admitted attacking a woman in Kelso to her severe injury and permanent disfigurement has been jailed for more than two years at Jedburgh Sheriff Court.

Daniel Hamilton - who gave an address in Galashiels - punched his victim on the head and kicked and bit her on the body in Roxburgh Street, Kelso, on March the 19th last year.

He also pled guilty to breaching a non-harassment order by being in the company of another woman on the same date.

In addition, Hamilton was sentenced on another complaint for being in possession of a bladed article during an incident in Selkirk last year.

He was jailed for a total of 25 months by Sheriff Janys Scott.
